On the first Sunday of every May, Terrace Brier Soccer Club hosts a free micro clinic to provide a friendly, safe, and supportive environment for the youngest kids of our community (ages Pre-K through 4th grade) to give soccer a try. This year, TBSC and BVB International Academy - Seattle partnered to host our 26th Spring Micro Clinic. Since it was an introductory experience, no experience was required. All you need to bring is a good attitude, some water, and clothes to run in.




Veteran TBSC players came out to help out and act as role models. They led stretches, warm up drills, and scrimmages. The younger kids kids loved seeing the older players and we loved watching these older players get an idea of what they were like to coach when they were 5. One helper said "I was expecting to do more soccer, but a lot of it was spent herding kids."



As they say, soccer isn't a game, it's an attitude. It was great to see so many kids having a positive experience with soccer because our goal should always be to have fun.

 

After everyone had warmed up and stretched, it was time for the scrimmages to begin. Some of the kids who joined us for the clinic had never had any experience with soccer. For those who had kicked a ball around before or had some familiarity with soccer, it was never with other kids their same age in a game setting. Everyone got to try something new.



It's not rec soccer without the cheesy team photo at the end. We had 71 kids join us on Sunday afternoon, many hearing about it just that day and walking up to see what all the fuss was about. Of those 71 kids, we raffled off 3 TBSC water bottles, 3 TBSC soccer balls, and 3 vouchers for a free 2022 fall registration.
